Tour Summary

The tour of the city of Cusco and surroundings is the best option to start knowing the city of Cusco on the first day of arrival in the capital of the Inca empire. The tour starts at 12:50 and ends at approximately 18:30. In this tour you will know the different Inca and colonial temples that are in the city as well as the imposing temple of Sacsayhuaman from where you can have a spectacular view of the city of Cusco.

EVERY DAY
The first place we will visit is the cathedral of Cusco to appreciate all the colonial art that houses a finished we will go to the Inca temple of Qoricancha known as the “Temple of the Sun” where highlights the impressive engineering used in its construction, then we will visit the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman Located 3 Km. from the city of Cusco, impressive Inca fortress of monumental stones and excellent architecture. It is famous for its huge labradas stones, some of which are 9 m/ 30 ft high and weigh more than 350 tons. This is where the Inti Raymi or Fiesta del Sol takes place.

Then we will visit Qenqo, which is a ceremonial and ritual center, an amphitheater where sacrifices were performed next to the ancient Puca-Pucara tambo or place where the Incas stored their agricultural products and guard post along the Inca roads. Finally we will visit Tambomachay A 7 Km. from the city of Cusco, ceremonial center of water worship and finally return to the city of Cusco.

EVERY DAY

12:50 hours Meeting at a certain place near the plaza de armas.
13:00 hours Start of the tour with a visit to the cathedral of Cusco.
14:00 hours Guided visit to the Inca temple of Qoricancha.
14:50 hours Guided visit to the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman.
16:30 Visit to the archaeological complexes of Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay.
18:30 hours Arrival in the city of Cusco, end of the tour.

Recommendations

  • Do this tour first so you can understand the genesis of the Inca empire by visiting the temple of Koricancha and Sacsayhuaman.
  • In Sacsayhuaman you can see photos taken with people wearing typical costumes and also waiting for you with their Andean camelids like llamas and alpacas, do not forget to give them a tip between 3 or 5 soles approximately.
  • When you arrive in Sacsayhuaman you will feel the wind and cold characteristic of the area, so we recommend to bring a windbreaker or another one that can shelter you.
  • After the tour do not forget to visit the stone of the 12 angles and the picturesque neighborhood of San Blas, famous for the presence of many craftsmen.
