The first place we will visit is the Cusco Cathedral to appreciate all the colonial art it houses. After that, we will head to the Inca temple of Qoricancha, known as the “Temple of the Sun,” where the impressive engineering used in its construction is truly remarkable. Then we will visit the Sacsayhuaman archaeological complex, located 3 km from the city of Cusco. This impressive Inca fortress boasts monumental stones and excellent architecture. It is famous for its enormous carved stones, some of which are 9 meters (30 feet) high and weigh more than 350 tons. This is where Inti Raymi, or the Festival of the Sun, takes place.
Next, we will visit Qenqo, a ceremonial and ritual center, an amphitheater where sacrifices were performed. Following that, we will visit Puca-Pucara, an ancient tambo, or place where the Incas stored their agricultural products and served as a lookout post along the Inca roads. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, 7 km from the city of Cusco, a ceremonial center dedicated to water worship, and then return to Cusco.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (may vary).

On this tour, you will discover the most privileged sites where the Incas built temples, fortresses, and sacred cities, thanks to the valley’s location in an area with a climate ideal for agriculture. In addition to learning about Inca history and architecture, you will admire the beautiful landscapes formed by the Vilcanota River and the imposing mountains.
The tour begins with pick-up from your hotel and a visit to the archaeological site of Pisaq, where you will see agricultural terraces and the Inca cemetery. Afterward, we will travel to Pisaq town and then on to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant. In the afternoon, after lunch, we will continue our journey to the Inca fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from potential invasions by jungle inhabitants during the Inca era. We will have the opportunity to stroll through the narrow streets of the town and gain a clear understanding of what this military, religious, and cultural center was like during the time of the Incas.
On the way back to Cusco, we will visit the picturesque village of Chinchero, where the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui are located. You will admire its well-preserved Inca wall in the main square and observe the beautiful colonial church built upon the foundations of an Inca structure.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (may vary).
DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY
Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and take you to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train that will take you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the town of Aguas Calientes. We will arrive in Aguas Calientes at approximately 9:00 AM, and from there, we will take a bus to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, located high in the mountains. Once at Machu Picchu, after checking in your tickets, our guide will begin the guided tour, providing you with a deeper understanding of the history and architecture of the Inca city of Machu Picchu. You will be amazed by the Inca constructions and temples, as well as the surrounding natural environment. In the afternoon, we will board our train to either the Ollantaytambo or Cusco station, depending on availability. The tour ends in Cusco.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (may vary).

This is one of our travelers’ favorite tours. The trip lasts approximately five hours and takes us very close to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
