General Information
DAY 1: AIRPORT PICKUP – CITY TOUR
We will pick you up from the airport with a sign displaying your name and take you to your hotel. Once settled, we will begin the city tour.
The first place we will visit is the Cusco Cathedral to appreciate all the colonial art it houses. After that, we will head to the Inca temple of Qoricancha, known as the “Temple of the Sun,” where the impressive engineering used in its construction is truly remarkable. Then we will visit the Sacsayhuaman archaeological complex, located 3 km from the city of Cusco. This impressive Inca fortress boasts monumental stones and excellent architecture. It is famous for its enormous carved stones, some of which are 9 meters (30 feet) high and weigh more than 350 tons. This is where Inti Raymi, or the Festival of the Sun, takes place.
Next, we will visit Qenqo, a ceremonial and ritual center, an amphitheater where sacrifices were performed. Following that, we will visit Puca-Pucara, an ancient tambo, or place where the Incas stored their agricultural products and served as a lookout post along the Inca roads. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, 7 km from the city of Cusco, a ceremonial center dedicated to water worship, and then return to Cusco.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (may vary).
DAY 2: VIP VALLEY
Our tour will begin with hotel pick-up between 6:00 am and 7:00 am. This excursion combines the cultural experiences of the Sacred Valley villages, the adaptation of food plants and community-run salt mines, with archaeological sites and natural landscapes, including snow-capped mountains such as Verónica and Chicón, among others. The tour will begin at 7:00 am. Our first stop will be the archaeological zone and textile center located in Chinchero.
Next, we will visit the Moray archaeological park, and we will also pass through the town of Maras where we will visit the salt mines before heading to the town of Urubamba where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant. After lunch, we will visit the archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo; Afterwards, we’ll visit the Pisaq Archaeological Park, and to conclude the tour, we’ll head to the town of Pisaq. There, we’ll make a 30-minute stop so passengers can visit the artisan market. We’ll finish our tour at approximately 7:00 pm in downtown Cusco, near the Plaza de Armas.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (prices may vary).
DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY
Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and take you to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train that will take you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the town of Aguas Calientes. We will arrive in Aguas Calientes at approximately 9:00 AM, and from there, we will take a bus to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, located high in the mountains. Once at Machu Picchu, after checking in your tickets, our guide will begin the guided tour, providing you with a deeper understanding of the history and architecture of the Inca city of Machu Picchu. You will be amazed by the Inca constructions and temples, as well as the surrounding natural environment. In the afternoon, we will board our train to either the Ollantaytambo or Cusco station, depending on availability. The tour ends in Cusco.
Overnight at the Amaru Cusco Hotel (may vary).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOURIST TRAIN
The determining factor to reach Machu Picchu is the tourist train, and there are two options when using the train; the route is the same, only the cars and schedules vary: Peru Rail Expedition Train and Inca Rail Voyager Train.
DAY 4: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
This tour begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. in our vehicle. We then travel through the southern valley of Cusco on the paved Cusco-Sicuani highway to a place called Checacupe. Here, we turn east, arriving at the town of Pitumarca where we will have a buffet breakfast at approximately 7:40 a.m. Afterward, we continue by vehicle to the Pampachiri Peasant Community, a 45-minute drive.
We will then pass through the entrance gate, where we will need to pay the entrance fees. The peasant community will then offer horses for those who prefer not to walk, and our guide will assist us in negotiating the price with the horseman if needed.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., we begin the hike, which will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach Vinicunca, or Rainbow Mountain. Upon arrival, you will have free time to take photos and explore the area up to the highest point (5200 meters above sea level). Please be mindful not to exceed the time indicated by the guide for remaining on the mountain, as this could lead to altitude sickness or oxygen deprivation. Afterward, we will return to Pampachiri along the same route, board our transport, and return to the town of Pitumarca for a buffet lunch at 1:30 p.m.
After lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., dropping our travelers off near the Plaza de Armas.

Along the way, we will make 2 or 3 stops so that you can stretch your legs, use the restroom, or take a break. Upon arrival in Pacchanta, where we will have breakfast and lunch, you can leave your belongings in the car, as the minivan will be waiting for us there. Pacchanta will be the starting and ending point of our hike. After lunch, we will have time to enjoy the hot springs for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. We will then return to the imperial city of Cusco, arriving back at approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
