Tour Summary
Explore with us the southern area of the city of Cusco and be part of history through archaeological centers of pre-Inca era, Inca and a beautiful colonial church known as “The Sistine of America” all in beautiful villages that still preserve their beautiful colonial houses.
Itinerary
This journey starts by picking you up from your hotel between 8:00 am – 9:00 am. Then we will go to the south of Cusco, during this journey we can see beautiful landscapes of the Andean Mountains. The first stop will be the archaeological center of Tipón, ceremonial center Inca where through a channel of stone was controlled the flow of water from the high summits of the hill Pachatusan towards the lowlands of the valley.
Later we will visit the archaeological complex of Pikillaqta which literally means “city of fleas”. It is an ancient walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari Culture in its expansion towards the city of Cusco.
Finally we will conclude the journey visiting the beautiful Church of Andahuaylillas, small jewel of the Colonial period, also known as ‘The Sistine of America’, in whose interior is an impressive collection of paintings with gold-plated frames and murals, Baroque altarpieces, and more. We can also appreciate the famous pentalingual door.
We will be back in the city of Cusco at approximately 14:30 hrs.
