Tour Summary
Rainbow Mountain 2 days and 1 night is a trekking adventure that starts in the city of Cusco, continues to the base of the mountain, and after a moderate hike, we will reach the Rainbow Mountain.
The most important thing is that this adventure is a great option for people who love nature and trekking but do not have many days available. Along this route, we will see beautiful landscapes typical of the high Andean zones, where you will feel a deep connection with nature.
General Information
Day 1: Cusco – Pitumarca – Quesuno – Circular Lagoon
We will start with the hotel pickup in Cusco at 05:00 a.m.
Then we will head south of Cusco to the town of Cusipata, where we will have our first stop to enjoy breakfast.
Afterward, we will continue along the road to the parking area, from where we will start our hike passing through small villages and observing the typical flora and fauna of the area. We will arrive at the foothills of the Ausangate mountain, where we will have lunch.
Later, we will begin our uphill hike toward the Circular Lagoon. Along the way, we will explore the surroundings, observe local shepherds, vast plains, and hundreds of alpacas — just the beginning of a fascinating adventure.
Finally, we will arrive at the Circular Lagoon, where we can enjoy the sunset surrounded by a beautiful waterfall and nature. At the end of the day, we will have dinner and a campfire.
Day 2: Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley – Chilca – Cusco
We will start the day with a delicious breakfast and a privileged view of the mountains. Then, we will begin the ascent to Rainbow Mountain, located at 5,000 meters above sea level. Once we reach the top, we will have time to walk around and take photos.

Recommendations
- Do the route considering your physical condition and altitude adaptation. We recommend doing the hike after spending a few days acclimating. Our guides carry a first aid kit and oxygen tank in case you need it.
- We recommend wearing suitable hiking shoes since this is a high-mountain route.
- Bring a backpack (maximum 25 liters) with your camera, hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
- It sometimes rains in the mountains, so we recommend bringing a jacket and a change of clothes to stay dry and warm.
- You can also carry coca leaves or candies; they help provide extra energy during the hike.
